About me:

Hi, I’m Julie.

I am a parent of two kids, a lawyer, a certified connected parenting instructor, a grown up with ADHD, and a passionate advocate for kids and families. I started Confident & Connected after years of studying and learning and training and struggling as a parent myself.

When I found this method, these strategies, this way of parenting, it changed my life and the life of my kids (and my husband’s life. And probably our dogs’ life, and grandmas, and friends, and, you get the idea). It felt revolutionary. It was different from what so many had told us was the “right” way for our kids. All of those “right” ways that never did anything to help.

Parenting can be tough! Especially when you’re parenting kids with complex trauma or neurodivergent kids, and you’re surrounded by people who judge and who all think they have the answer. With this way of parenting, I was able to let go of all those opinions. All the behavior charts and stickers and time outs and punishments and compliance and control-based strategies that only made things worse. When I found how to put connection first, to work with my kids, myself, and my partner, instead of against all of us, I found the joy of motherhood, the peace of being able to be gentle with myself… I found my kids. Not their behavior. Who they really are. And they’re wonderful. (Your kid is too).

Now, I share this information and strategies with other families, because I have seen the difference it makes. When parents feel confident in their parenting, and kids feel connected to their parent, the whole world can change.

If you’re feeling lost, alone, frustrated… if you’re hanging on all day just to get to bedtime, if you feel like you have tried everything, and there’s no relief in sight, consider giving the Confident & Connected approach a try. I can’t promise your life will change. It won’t be an easy fix. But, it’s not about trying harder. It’s about trying differently. Remember, there are no perfect parents. But there are Confident & Connected parents. And that can make all the difference.
